Scholarships

The Geneseo Migrant Center administers a variety of scholarships, linked below, to offer financial assistance to migrant students who want to further their education. Please note the annual deadline for each scholarship.

Gloria Mattera National Migrant Scholarship

Eligible applicants must be entering or enrolled in college or other types of post-secondary programs, high school dropouts or potential dropouts. Awards up to $500. Applications must be received by April 1 of each year.

Frank Kazmierczak Memorial Migrant Scholarship

Eligible applicants must be the child of a migrant worker or a migrant worker with priority given to those with mobility in the last three years. Must have teaching as a career goal, proof of scholastic achievement and financial need. Awards up to $1,000. Applications must be received by February 1 of each year.

Patrick Crowley Homeless Migrant Scholarship

Eligible applicants must high school seniors with a history of migration in or within New York State who has been identified as homeless any time during high school. Awards up to $500. Applications must be received by April 1 of each year.

Berrien Fragos Thorn Arts Scholarships for Migrant Farmworkers

A creative arts scholarship to foster and encourage the creative talents of individuals with a history of migration to obtain work in agriculture. Two grant levels in visual, media, or performing arts.  Applications must be received by June 1 and Nov. 1 of each year for grants $500 and up.

Migrant Farmworker Baccalaureate Scholarship

Provides support for a student with a history of migrating for employment in agriculture who has successfully completed one year of college to cover expenses beyond what the youth is entitled to in federal/state and other scholarship assistance. This scholarship is designed to assist the youth in obtaining a baccalaureate degree without being encumbered with substantial debt.  Applications must be received by July 1.

Jean DeGrace Crandall Memorial Scholarship

Offers $2,000 for post-secondary scholarship assistance to a migrant farmworker or child of a migrant farmworker from Mexico with a history of migration to Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, or Westchester Counties in New York State.  Applications must be received by April 1.

Margaret Raley New York State Migrant Student Scholarship

Recognizes the educational achievement of migrant farmworker students with a history of migration to and/or within New York State. This award of $500 will be offered annually to an individual student or the amount will be divided among two or more students.  Applications must be received by April 1.

Robert Apicella Good Samaritan Migrant Scholarship

Recognizes a migrant farmworker senior high school student from New York State needing post-secondary scholarship assistance who has demonstrated a caring and giving attitude toward another individual or community with a $500 scholarship. Applications must be received by April 1.

Friends of Senator Jack Perry Migrant Scholarship

Recognizes a migrant farmworker student from New York State needing post-secondary scholarship assistance. Applications must be received by April 1.

Aurelio “Larry” Jazo Migrant Scholarship

Offers an annual award in the amount of $1,000 for post-secondary scholarship assistance to a migrant farmworker student who has a recent migration to IllinoisApplications must be received by May 15.

Juanita Crippen Memorial Scholarship

Recognizes a senior high school student from a migrant farmworker family in Franklin, St. Lawrence, or Clinton Counties in New York State needing post-secondary scholarship assistance who has demonstrated a caring and giving attitude toward another individual or community with a $500.00 scholarship. Applications must be received by April 1.

Leah Levy Memorial Scholarship

Recognizes a senior high school student from a migrant farmworker family in Franklin, St. Lawrence, or Clinton Counties in New York State needing post-secondary scholarship assistance who has demonstrated a caring and giving attitude toward another individual or community with a $500.00 scholarship. Applications must be received by April 1.
